How to Access Stout's During the Winter

Boat: A Stout’s staff member is happy to bring you across. Please contact us in advance to arrange your transportation.

Car: There is an ice road! The ice road is regularly maintained and is typically accessible from mid-January to early March, weather permitting.

Airboat: A Stout’s staff member is happy to bring you across. Similar to our boat service, please contact us in advance.

Hovercraft: Coming soon! We plan to introduce our hovercraft service after 85% of the real estate is sold. Invest now to help bring this exciting new mode of transportation to life and enjoy exclusive hovercraft access as a property owner.

Winter Activities At Stout's

Ice Fishing
Red Cedar Lake is 1,841 acres in size, and it is 53 feet deep at its deepest point. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Bluegill, Large and Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Panfish and Walleye.

Sledding
There are a couple of fun sledding hills at the Island for the young ones in your group!

Ice skating on a frozen Red Cedar Lake at Stout’s Island Lodge offers a magical winter experience.

Hiking, Snowshoeing, & Cross-Country Skiing

The Main Island has a path all around its perimeter, plus the entire lake is at your disposal! The East Island also has walking paths with a picnic cabin at the far north end.

Looking for something a little more challenging? It’s the great Northwoods! And we’re home to a segment of the Ice Age Trail (1000 miles of trail all in the beautiful state of Wisconsin), so there’s plenty of walking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing to be found.

Christie Mountain Ski Area

Bruce, WI (about 20 miles from Birchwood)

This nearby ski area offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. It’s a great spot for both beginners and experienced skiers, with lessons available and a cozy lodge to warm up in after a day on the slopes.
